As you may have heard, Quilt-EZ is teaming up with Quilts for Kids to make a quilt for a child in need. I visited the Quilts for Kids website a few weeks ago, and ordered one of the kits so that I could share in the magic. For only the cost of shipping Quilts for Kids sent us a quilting kit, complete with all the fabric I would need to bless a child in need.
Quilts for Kids is a wonderful charity whose mission statement is “Transforming fabrics into patchwork quilts that comfort children with life-threatening illnesses and children of abuse.” Its goal is, and has been, to donate 30,000 quilts a year. If you would like to be part of that visit quiltsforkids.org for more information. I was ecstatic when I received it in the mail, and began working on it immediately.
The kit comes with all the fabric you will need, and its all cut; Yay!
The pattern is one that even a beginner can do, and if you happen to get stuck there are several tutorials online from Quilts for Kids.
When it came to the quilting process, I used our Butler Computerized Quilting machine, with our Perfect Software. It was very user friendly and I was able to quilt it start to finish in a couple of hours. I used a large feathered design for the middle, and a bird design for the border, which turned out super cute!
